Ford Publication 5304 July 1971, Page 14
Well, I guess we have to give Ford some credit for using African-American models in their 1971 print advertising, but this image bugs me. It misses the mark in a couple areas. First of all, there's the assumption that the Black guy can't afford more than the baseline Torino. He doesn't even get the cool '72 grill! And then it's a blended group, perhaps a sports team? But nobody looks happy except the coach. None of the kids are smiling, and I think they've been airbrushed in. The big kid in back doesn't even have legs!
